2010 Taipei Fringe Festival Calls for Submissions

Embarking on its 3rd year, Taipei Fringe Festival bearing the mission creating “the best performance platform” in Taipei for developing artists, it has successfully grown into an urban artistic force with innovation and vitality in just 2 years. Since Taipei Fringe Festival’s inception in 2008 which saw 166 performances by 61 groups, the numbers escalated to 246 performances by 80 groups in 2009. This year’s festival is calling for submissions until April 16th for this year’s festival taking place August 28th to September 16th in Taipei. With more venues available, the 2010 Taipei Fringe Festival is expected to accommodate up to 100 attending artists/groups. Submissions only applicable through website www.taipeifringe.org. Limited availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
Taipei Fringe Festival advocates open and free spirit, and abiding by that principle, attending artists are not juried or selected. Taipei Fringe Festival incorporates venues free of rental for the artists to show your ideas and realize your vision. The slots are, however, limited availability and served on a first-come first-served basis. Though the performance group will not receive any production subsidies, but they get to take the full box office income.
The core mission for Taipei Fringe Festival is encourage artists to develop innovative ideas, to probe general public to look for young talents, and provide the arts community an exploration of fresh spirits. Taipei Fringe Festival presents the original and diverse creativity of arts to the city. Shows and events are mounted in diverse spaces like galleries, parks, cafes and plazas. As a Fringe artist, this is where they make their marks. As a Fringe audience, it is always a fun and adventurous experience to see fringe performances. Taipei Fringe Festival is not only a performance platform but also a chance for the world to see young creativity.
